The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) was established through an act of parliament in February 1958 for integrated and rapid development and maintenance of the country’s water and power resources. This includes controlling soil salinity and waterlogging to rehabilitate the affected land to strengthen the country’s predominantly agricultural economy.
